...you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God -- that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption. Therefore, as it is written: "Let him who boasts boast in the Lord."
1 Corinthians 1:30-31, New International Version
As a Chruch We must remember this today with our opening service in mind.

Evening Prayer
I prayed this today and I am considering praying the office's agane.
Prayer in the Evening
Be swift, O God, to save us.
Come quickly, Lord, to help us.
SENTENCE FOR THE DAY
It is good to give thanks to the Lord,
to sing psalms to your name, O Most High.
Glory to the Father, and to the Son,
and to the Holy Spirit:
as it was in the beginning, is now,
and shall be for ever. Amen.
PRAYER OF PENITENCE
Most merciful God,
we confess to you
before the whole company of heaven
that we have sinned
in thought, word and deed,
and in what we have failed to do.
Forgive us our sins,
heal us by your Spirit
and raise us to new life in Christ. Amen.
If we confess our sins,
God is faithful and just,
and will forgive our sins,
and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Amen. Thanks be to God.
JUBILATE
Cry out to the Lord, all the earth;
serve the Lord with gladness;
come into his presence with songs of joy.
Be assured that the Lord is God;
he has made us for himself.
We are his own, his people,
the sheep who feed on his pasture.
Come into his gates with thanksgiving,
enter his courts with praise;
give thanks to him and bless his name.
Truly the Lord is good:
his love endures for ever,
and from age to age he is faithful.
Glory to the Father, and to the Son,
and to the Holy Spirit:
as it was in the beginning, is now,
and shall be for ever. Amen.
THE PRAYER OF THE EVENING
God and Father of all,
as this day ends
we offer up its hours in praise to you.
As we take our rest,
unite us, by your Spirit,
in praise of Christ our Lord,
the Alpha and Omega,
the First and Last,
in whom we make our prayer. Amen.
PSALM
Psalm 84
1 How dear to me is your dwelling, O LORD of hosts! *
My soul has a desire and longing for the courts of
the LORD;
my heart and my flesh rejoice in the living God.
2 The sparrow has found her a house
and the swallow a nest where she may lay her young; *
by the side of your altars, O LORD of hosts,
my King and my God.
3 Happy are they who dwell in your house! *
they will always be praising you.
4 Happy are the people whose strength is in you! *
whose hearts are set on the pilgrims' way.
5 Those who go through the desolate valley will find
it a place of springs, *
for the early rains have covered it with pools of water.
6 They will climb from height to height, *
and the God of gods will reveal himself in Zion.
7 LORD God of hosts, hear my prayer; *
hearken, O God of Jacob.
8 Behold our defender, O God; *
and look upon the face of your Anointed.
9 For one day in your courts is better than
a thousand in my own room, *
and to stand at the threshold of the house of my God
than to dwell in the tents of the wicked.
10 For the LORD God is both sun and shield; *
he will give grace and glory;
11 No good thing will the LORD withhold *
from those who walk with integrity.
12 O LORD of hosts, *
happy are they who put their trust in you!
READING
Isaiah 55.6-9
Seek the Lord while he may be found,
call upon him while he is near;
let the wicked forsake their way,
and the unrighteous their thoughts;
let them return to the Lord,
that he may have mercy on them,
and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.
For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
nor are your ways my ways, says the Lord.
For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts.
MAGNIFICAT (THE SONG OF MARY)
My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord,
my spirit rejoices in God my Saviour,
who has looked with favour on his lowly servant.
From this day all generations will call me blessèd:
the Almighty has done great things for me
and holy is his name.
God has mercy on those who fear him,
from generation to generation.
The Lord has shown strength with his arm
and scattered the proud in their conceit,
casting down the mighty from their thrones
and lifting up the lowly.
God has filled the hungry with good things
and sent the rich away empty.
He has come to the aid of his servant Israel,
to remember the promise of mercy,
the promise made to our forebears,
to Abraham and his children for ever.
Glory to the Father, and to the Son,
and to the Holy Spirit:
as it was in the beginning, is now,
and shall be for ever. Amen.
THE PRAYERS
Christ, through whom all things were made,
sustain all creation.
Christ, exalted in the lowest and the least,
give us humility.
Christ, present in the poor and the oppressed,
fill us with compassion.
Christ, forsaken in the hungry and the homeless,
minister to them through our hands.
Christ, present where two or three are gathered,
be known among us.
Christ, present in word, sacrament and sign,
grant us your peace.
THE LORD'S PRAYER
We say together the prayer that Jesus gave us:
Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your Name,
your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins
as we forgive those who sin against us.
Save us from the time of trial
and deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours,
now and for ever. Amen.
Lord our God,
at the ending of this day,
and in the darkness and silence of this night,
cover us with healing and forgiveness,
that we may take our rest in peace;
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
We will lie down in peace and take our rest;
for you alone, Lord, make us dwell in safety.
The following may be said:
May the souls of the faithful,
through the mercy of God,
rest in peace and rise in glory. Amen.

The power of the ring thing
The power of the ring thing This was interesting can't quite work out why they don't mix the two and teach abstinence and birth control at the same time. Young people are young people and they will make promises and they can brake them to. I think it is the same old story about putting heads in the sand again and taking in the wider picture and talking to the young people. We live in a world full of sin and yes we have to stand out but sin can still happen and we should be prepared and give the full information and the full consequence. However it is as not over the top as much as the Texas Virgins program that was on the other day and preaching that condoms have holes in.

Snow??
It has been a very mild start to the week. However, it looks like the UK is going to get a real taste of winter by the weekend as the winds switch around to the north and when "the north wind does blow, then we may have snow." Last time it didn't stick: .Not sure how I feel this time as long as I can get to work I am ok with it.

Cosmetic Kids
Documentary examining the rising trend of cosmetic surgery among children and teenagers, following the experiences of four young girls who are ready and willing to undergo operations. Emily wants to have her ears pinned back before she moves to secondary school, 18-year-old Jenna who has waited four years for a breast augmentation op, and Ivana wants a breast reduction operation to take her from a 38GG to a D cup. The programme also features a case from America - 15-year-old Britni from Austin in Texas who is having liposuction on her back, arms, thighs and stomach to reduce her weight.
I am just watching this program on ITV : "Cosmetic Kids" I am surprised with what I see and can't work out why there is a need for kids to have cosmetic surgery yes I think Ivana should have her breast reduction but why the others?? Sad is all I can say and I can't think why Emily should have here ears pinned back she will properly end up have more problems at school because of having it done.

"If you knew that only a few would care that you came, would you still come? If you knew that those you loved would laugh in your face, would you still care? If you knew that the tongues you made would mock you, the mouths you made would spit at you, the hands you made would crucify you, would you still make them? Christ did.”
— Max Lucado in 'A Love Worth Giving to You at Christmas' "
Ephesians 1:17-20
"I pray ... also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know ... his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is like the working of his mighty strength, which he exerted in Christ when he raised him from the dead...

Texas Virgins
channel4.com - Believe it or not - Texas Virgins
I have just watched this and had mixed feeling about it. As a Christian and a youth leader I agree with the no Sex before marriage and teach it. However I find it hard to watch this church and community be so blinkered to the facts that Sex happens and there is a real need for sex education in young people they shouldn't put their heads in the sand. To quote a Christian youth leader that "condoms don't work and have holes in" this is very wrong, very stupid and misinformation. I also find this very disturbing and hope and pray that we in the UK don't go down the same track witch we seem to do quite a lot.

The God of Yes
“The real danger of legalism is that it produces a sense of attainment that short-circuits our call to live the life of Yes thorugh Christ. Self-achievement brings a false sense of assurance that somehow we can live a pure life in our own ability. This attitude ultimately leads us to cut ourselves off from the heart of God and, in turn, to deny our true identity in Christ.”
— David Edwards in "The God of Yes"
Today's Verse
Make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love.
2 Peter 1:5-7, New International Version
God has spoken to me today trough this I need to do more about my life.
I Pray: God help be to be more forgiving and listen to others in my life, not to depend on myself but you, mold me and make me new, help me to show brotherly kindness. AMEN
